Gallet Is Back: Four Collections, 200 Years, and Breitling Behind the Curtain

The historic Swiss name relaunches in 2026 with four purpose-built collections, manufactured by Breitling and aimed squarely at the modern adventurer

Gallet is one of those names that serious collectors know, but most people have forgotten. Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1826, it spent decades supplying military and aviation clients before quietly disappearing from the market. Two centuries after its founding, it's coming back, and it's doing so in a way that should get your attention.

The brand is returning in 2026 as part of The House of Brands, the group that already owns Breitling. That last part matters a lot. Breitling will be manufacturing the new Gallet watches and providing the operational infrastructure behind them. This isn't a heritage label slapped on a generic case, it's a proper relaunch with genuine Swiss production muscle backing it up.

Four collections are launching at once: the Flying Officer, the Multichron Pilot, the Multichron Sport, and a fourth line rounding out the range. Each one draws on Gallet's actual history, particularly its deep ties to aviation and military timing, rather than invented nostalgia.

What's Actually New Here

Gallet didn't just dust off an old logo. The four collections represent a full brand architecture built from scratch around the company's original identity. The Flying Officer name, for instance, references Gallet's long history of supplying pilots and military officers. The Multichron line nods directly to Gallet's chronograph heritage, which is genuinely significant given the brand's role in the history of the stopwatch and multi-function timing tools.

The House of Brands positioning is interesting too. Gallet is described as the welcome starting point for the group, which suggests it's aimed at a slightly more accessible entry point than Breitling itself. That's a smart move. Breitling's average prices have climbed considerably over the past decade, so having a related brand that can occupy a different segment makes commercial sense.

Worth Noting

Breitling making the watches isn't just a quality signal, it's a statement of intent. This isn't a licensing play. Gallet is being rebuilt as a real brand with real infrastructure, not a name being rented out to a contract manufacturer you've never heard of.

Who This Is For

If you've been watching Breitling prices climb and wishing there was something with similar DNA at a friendlier number, Gallet might be exactly what you've been waiting for. The brand has real credibility with military and aviation history behind it, it's not manufactured heritage. And with Breitling's production involved, the quality baseline should be solid.

Collectors who care about provenance will appreciate that this is a genuine 200-year-old name, not a brand invented last year with a fake backstory. Military watch enthusiasts in particular will find the Flying Officer lineage worth exploring. Gallet was supplying serious clients long before tool watches became a lifestyle category.

How It Compares

The obvious comparison is Breitling itself, given the shared ownership and manufacturing. But Gallet isn't trying to be Breitling with a different badge. The positioning is distinct: leaner, more historically grounded, and apparently aimed at someone who wants the Swiss quality and the real story without paying for the Breitling name premium.

You could also compare it to other heritage relaunches, of which there have been plenty. What separates Gallet is the manufacturing backing. Most relaunches of old names involve a small team licensing the trademark and sourcing movements wherever they can. Gallet has Breitling's actual facilities and expertise behind it. That's a meaningful difference.

Pricing hasn't been fully announced yet, but the positioning as a House of Brands entry point strongly implies it will sit below Breitling's current range. Watch this space, the full details are expected ahead of the 2026 launch, and based on the collections shown so far, this one deserves a serious look.
