It worked. Now, for Geneva Watch Days 2026, the brand is back with something sharper: the Inflection Shuò, a collaboration with New York-based creative studio Massena Lab.
Shuò (爍) means "to shine" or "to glimmer" in Chinese, and that name isn't accidental. The collaboration adds two gold dial variants to the Inflection formula, pushing the watch further upmarket while keeping the tantalum case and bracelet that made the original stand out in the first place.
Massena Lab, if you're not familiar, is William Massena's outfit. They've built a reputation for thoughtful, design-led collaborations with independent and established brands alike. Their involvement here isn't just a badge on the dial, it shapes the whole aesthetic direction of the piece.
What's Actually New
The architecture stays the same. You're still getting the complex, fully curved tantalum case with an integrated bracelet built almost entirely from the same material. Tantalum is dense, hypoallergenic, and has that distinctive dark blue-grey tone that sits somewhere between steel and ceramic. It wears differently from either, and on the wrist it feels substantial without being aggressive.
The change is in the dials. Massena Lab has introduced two gold variants, each bringing a warmer, richer palette to a watch that previously leaned cool and technical. The contrast between the dark tantalum case and a gold dial is genuinely striking. It's the kind of pairing that could easily go wrong, but the proportions and finishing here keep it from tipping into flashy territory.

Comparing the Inflection Shuò to mainstream integrated sports watches is a bit of a category error. It's not trying to out-Royal-Oak the Royal Oak. The target buyer here is someone already thinking about independent watchmaking, materials-forward design, and smaller production numbers.
Within that space, Atelier Wen's use of tantalum is genuinely rare. Most brands that experiment with the material do it for cases only. Running it through the bracelet as well raises the engineering and cost bar considerably.
