Parmigiani Fleurier already had the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet in its lineup. What's new here is the color. The brand has just introduced the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet Mineral Blue, swapping the existing execution for a coordinated blue treatment across the dial, strap, and select case elements. It's the same platform, but dressed differently enough to warrant a proper look.
The Tonda PF Sport collection launched in 2023, pitched as the weekend watch for the Parmigiani customer. The Ultra-Cermet variant arrived in 2025, and that's where things got genuinely interesting. Cermet, a composite of ceramic and metal, is not common at this level of watchmaking. Now it gets a colorway that leans into the sporty brief more directly than before.
The case stays at 42.5mm, which is a solid size for a sports chronograph. Nothing changed there. What changed is the mood.
What Ultra-Cermet Actually Means
Cermet is a sintered material, meaning it's formed under intense heat and pressure from a mixture of ceramic powder and metallic binders. The result is harder than most steels, resistant to scratching, and lighter than you might expect given how solid it looks and feels. It also has a particular visual quality, somewhere between matte and metallic, that catches light differently from either polished steel or standard ceramic.
Parmigiani calls their version Ultra-Cermet, and the full case is built from it. That includes the case body, bezel, and lugs. It's not an insert or a coating. The entire structural shell is this material, which puts the manufacturing complexity, and the cost, in a different category from brands that use ceramic only for the bezel.
A full cermet case, not just a cermet bezel, is genuinely rare at any price point. Most brands treat it as a trim material. Parmigiani builds the whole case from it. That's not a marketing distinction, it's a production one.
The Mineral Blue Treatment
The dial is described as a Blackor and Mineral Blue execution. Blackor is Parmigiani's proprietary gold alloy with a dark, near-black finish. The combination of that dark base with the Mineral Blue overlay creates a dial that shifts under different lighting conditions. In direct light, the blue reads clearly. In softer ambient conditions, it deepens and goes almost indigo.
The rubber strap is also Mineral Blue, which gives the whole package a coordinated look without being too matchy. It works because the cermet case sits tonally between the black and blue elements rather than pulling toward either extreme.

Who This Is For
Parmigiani has been clear about the Tonda PF Sport brief: this is the weekend watch for their customer. That customer is probably already wearing a Tonda PF dress piece during the week. They want something that can handle a more active context without looking like it wandered in from a different brand's catalog.
The Ultra-Cermet Mineral Blue fits that profile well. It's dressy enough that you could wear it to dinner on Saturday after wearing it on a boat that afternoon. The chronograph function adds genuine utility. And the material story, full cermet case, proprietary gold alloy dial, gives it something to talk about beyond just the color.
If you're cross-shopping this against conventional steel sports chronographs, the cermet case is the differentiator. Steel at this price point is abundant. A full cermet case is not.
How It Sits in the Market
The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet occupies a specific and slightly narrow niche. It's not trying to compete with the Richard Mille crowd on exotic materials theater. It's not trying to out-traditional the dress watch world. It's a Parmigiani product, which means finishing quality and movement execution are taken seriously, but the aesthetic is relaxed by the brand's usual standards.
The Mineral Blue colorway broadens the collection's appeal without fundamentally changing what it is. Blue sports watches sell. Blue sports watches in unusual materials with strong movement credentials sell to a more specific buyer. That buyer likely knows what cermet is, cares that the case isn't just ceramic-coated steel, and appreciates that Parmigiani built the movement in-house.

Tonda PF Sport (2023)
Parmigiani doesn't make a lot of noise, which is partly why watches like this one don't always get the attention they deserve. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet Mineral Blue is a well-considered piece with a genuine material story and a color execution that works. If you've been watching the Sport line since 2023, this one is worth tracking down in person.
