This is what a dress watch should look like - the Breguet Classique 7147

Editor’s note: There’s a risk with dress watches that they become overly simple. Boring even. That’s not what’s going on with the Breguet Classique 7147, which manages to balance clean design, fine detail and Breguet’s storied design codes in one neat golden package … The story in a second: Breguet’s updated Classique 7147 offers traditional style, … ContinuedThe post This is what a dress watch should look like – the Breguet Classique 7147 appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

INTRODUCING: Bulgari bring back a legend with the Gérald Genta 50th Anniversary Watch

Few names loom larger in the collective consciousness of horological history than Gérald Genta. He’s one of the few individual designers whose name - because of the strength of his work - stands as tall as the great houses for whom he worked. But later in his career, Genta launched his own eponymous brand which … ContinuedThe post INTRODUCING: Bulgari bring back a legend with the Gérald Genta 50th Anniversary Watch appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

EDITOR’S PICK: Can TAG Heuer’s affordable tourbillon match it with the big dogs?

Editor’s note: An affordable Swiss-made tourbillon. Words like that were once considered something of an oxymoron. That all changed, however, when in 2016, TAG Heuer’s Carrera Heuer-02T came along, causing something of a stir amongst the watchmaking elite. Well, with this year’s release of the chronometer grade TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Tête de Vipère, those shock … ContinuedThe post EDITOR’S PICK: Can TAG Heuer’s affordable tourbillon match it with the big dogs? appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

WATCHSPOTTING: Chris Hemsworth schools the internet on how to casually wear a simple gold watch

We here at Time+Tide are particularly proud of Australian actor Chris Hemsworth … all right, we man-crush hard on the big fella. And not just because of his ruggedly handsome good looks, which give us regular Aussie men a good name around the world, but because the dude just gets how to wear watches. In … ContinuedThe post WATCHSPOTTING: Chris Hemsworth schools the internet on how to casually wear a simple gold watch appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

LIST: Andrew’s Top 10 from Basel, including the watch he got wrong

In the opening scene of this video, which was shot on the final day of Baselworld 2018, I say to Felix, “We’re doing a list?!” with a type of delirious, high-pitched Seinfeldian disbelief. What I meant was, seriously, how could we be? We just arrived at Basel! How is it that we are distilling our … ContinuedThe post LIST: Andrew’s Top 10 from Basel, including the watch he got wrong appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

BASEL BUILDUP: 6 days to go. This year is the Omega Speedmaster’s 60th anniversary, so watch this video about the 1957 original

BASEL BUILDUP: The first Omega Speedmaster was released in 1957, so the iconic model is celebrating its 60th this year. We’re pretty confident this means we’ll be seeing an anniversary edition at Baselworld in a few days, which led us to speculate (fairly intensely) about what it might look like. As with all things involving ‘vintage’ and ‘Speedmaster’, … ContinuedThe post BASEL BUILDUP: 6 days to go. VIDEO: A chef, his watch (a Hublot Big Bang) and his love of stir fry

It gets boring waiting in lines, especially when you’re hungry. So if by chance this finds you outside Chin Chin (Australia’s top-ranked restaurant, located in Flinders Lane, Melbourne which has a wait-time of around the average romantic comedy in length), you’re in luck, because we’re going to help you kill at least two minutes. And … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: A chef, his watch (a Hublot Big Bang) and his love of stir fry appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Photo Report: Watch Spotting At The Hodinkee Happy Hour [July 2026]

Another Hodinkee Happy Hour, another evening well spent. Last week, we returned to the Watches of Switzerland boutique in SoHo for our monthly community meetup. Some attendees were meeting for the first time, while others picked up right where they left off. Before long, the room was buzzing with conversation over local beers from our friends at Grotta and slices from Nolita's Upside Pizza. As the night unfolded, attendees passed their personal watches around the room while sharing fond stories about them. From vintage gems to new releases like the DOXA SUB Army 200T for Hodinkee Limited Edition, there were more than enough interesting watches to get your hands on and talk about. Scroll through the photos below for a recap of the night and watches that made the rounds. If you joined us, thank you for coming. If not, we're hosting the next one at the end of August. Be the first to know when RSVPs open by following the Hodinkee Instagram! DOXA SUB Army 200T for Hodinkee Limited Edition.  Right, Deputy Editor Tim Jeffreys wearing the DOXA SUB Army 200T. Introducing - The Grøne Oldenzaal Horologium, a Refined, Hand-Wound, Attainable Dress Watch by The Grönefeld

By now, most of you must be familiar with the so-called Horological brothers, the duo of Dutch indie watchmakers behind Grönefeld and its superb, high-end and lavishly decorated watches. Highly desirable watches for sure, not for every pocket though. This is why, in 2024, Tim and Bart Grönefeld created a new brand named Grøne Oldenzaal, […]

Louis Erard Partners with Brilliant Earth on the Jeweler’s First Watch Collection

Louis Erard has been making collaborative watches for years. In fact, you can pretty easily point to limited edition collaborations as a venture that has sustained the brand over the last several years, and made them newly relevant to a broad spectrum of enthusiasts and collectors. Their collaborations tend to follow a familiar, tried and true format. For the most part, they work with established, often higher end, independent watchmakers, and graft the design signatures of those watchmakers onto various Louis Erard platforms, most often their Regulator. The list of collaborators at this point is extensive, with names like Chaykin, Kudoke, and Vianney Halter contributing to Louis Erard’s ongoing project. Their latest, though, is a little different. The Solstice Collection, a line unveiled last month with Brilliant Earth, represents a new approach, and takes Louis Erard’s name off the dial entirely.  Brilliant Earth is a jewelry brand founded in 2005 that has gained traction for their commitment to transparency in the sourcing of their precious metals and stones. Their public face is one focused on sustainability, and are known to use recycled precious metals as well as lab grown diamonds in their engagement rings and other jewelry. The Solstice Collection represents their first watch line.  The Solstice Collection consists of two watches, Summer and Winter. They are built on Louis Erard’s La Petite Seconde platform, and feature 39mm stainless steel cases and run on...
