Engineered Garments x Chrome MED PAC & SHOULDER EG Like adding a banana to a smoothie or a xenomorph to the Alien franchise, when Engineered Garments collaborates with a brand, it tends to permeate the brand entirely, making the end result something new and often that much more substantive. Take, for instance, its latest project with Chrome. The MED PAC & SHOULDER EG borrows from the vintage U.S. Army Medical Bag, right down to the numbered-pocket layout, though Engineered Garments pushes the count from 16 to 17. Large side pockets and a dedicated laptop compartment give it plenty of room for daily use, while three removable straps along the bottom can carry additional gear. The shoulder and backpack straps can also be rearranged or removed entirely, giving Chrome’s functional approach a distinctly Engineered Garments treatment. Both colorways, black and olive, are available now through Chrome’s online store.   Signature CS-1 Master Calendar Chronoquartz FOSSIL just launched the Signature CS-1 Master Calendar Chronoquartz, a 42mm master-calendar chronograph, marking a new chapter in the brand’s Swiss watchmaking story. Three recessed subdials sit alongside day and month windows at 12 o’clock, with a red-tipped central hand pointing to the date around the outer edge of the grooved dial. For those still seeking a slightly under-the-radar integrated-bracelet sport watch from the 70s and 80s, may I present this Omega 'Alveoles.' Here's a vintage anonymous beauty with an 18k gold case and running seconds at the top rather than the bottom of the dial, and, from the same auction, if there's a better-looking vintage regulator than this Eterna on auction anywhere in the coming week, I haven't seen it. Off the Cuff: Audemars Piguet and Konstantin Chaykin Think Beyond the Watch

Watchmakers regularly turn familiar design cues into accessories, but Audemars Piguet and Konstantin Chaykin have taken notably different approaches to the genre with their latest offerings. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Joaillerie Collection recasts the Royal Oak as an extensive range of elaborate jewellery, while Konstantin Chaykin’s Master of Days cufflinks incorporate a tiny mechanical calibre that provides a day-of-the-week display. Both draw on the design and manufacturing specialties of their makers, but at vastly different price points and with different audiences in mind. Both approaches, however, lend themselves to gift-giving, which might explain the timing of the releases in the lead up to the holiday season. Initial thoughts Some of the biggest names in series watchmaking dabble in accessories on the side. The most obvious is probably Rolex, which made headlines when it formally launched a line of cufflinks — and a desk clock — late last year. Patek Philippe, too, has a long history of making jewellery and accessories. Today the brand offers cufflinks that match the Golden Ellipse, Nautilus, and Cubitus, and jewellery that takes after the Aquanaut and the Twenty-4. Even smaller-scale independent watchmakers evidently see value in the category. F.P. Journe offers a set of cufflinks in a choice of platinum or 18 pink gold — to match the brand’s watches — as does Biver.
