The Bronze debate
A common myth revolves around bronze's properties, as 'rusty', 'stinks' and gets 'tainted' over time. All of which wrong to a large extent. Let us explain why.

Looking Back at the 2026 NYC Windup Watch Fair: Energy, Enthusiasm, and Yes, the Line
Another year of the Windup Watch Fair is in the books, and what a year it was. I’ve probably written or said some version of this a dozen times before, but when we started Windup in 2015, we had no idea what it would become. What started as a small collection of brands in a SoHo storefront has grown to a national tour of events that houses hundreds of brands and welcomes tens of thousands of visitors. You feel the excitement and energy at every stop, as folks return for their third, fourth, or fifth Fair, while others celebrate attending their first watch event ever. That’s what makes Windup special (or so I think). If we’ve been successful at one thing, bringing people together from across the watch community would be it. No pretension. No barriers. Just great people and great watches. I want you all to know, we did this. Not just Worn & Wound – we the community . . . It’s your enthusiasm that made the industry take notice. Thank you for that. But coming off the NYC Fair, you get a sense the growth of Windup has entered a new phase. In New York, Windup sits at the center (along with our friends at WatchTime) of the most important weekend for watches in America. Our two events, both started in 2015, have laid the foundation for a weekend of watches like no other. The phrase New York Watch Week has, unprompted, become part of our collective vocabulary. And brands understand the power of the moment. At Windup this year, over 40 new watches were released, and I’m ...

Omega Discontinued The Speedmaster X-33: What’s Next For This Space-Age Watch?
We mentioned it here a while ago, but the Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer, a watch developed with the help of ESA engineers for missions on the Red Planet, has been quietly removed from the catalog. The Speedmaster X-33 was developed in the 1990s with the help of General Thomas Stafford, among others, and introduced to […] Visit Omega Discontinued The Speedmaster X-33: What’s Next For This Space-Age Watch? to read the full article.

Should You Upgrade Your Existing Watch Instead Of Buying A New One?
A while back, a 39mm Tudor Ranger on loan from Rolex Australia arrived for review. I expected to spend two weeks writing about its dial and movement, as usual. Instead, I kept coming back to the bracelet — specifically, its clasp. Compared with the one on my Black Bay 58, it felt like a significant […] Visit Should You Upgrade Your Existing Watch Instead Of Buying A New One? to read the full article.

Recapping Fossil Signature’s Launch at Windup Watch Fair NYC 2026
Fossil’s new Signature Collection made its debut at Windup Watch Fair NYC 2026, with a behind-the-scenes film, a Q&A; with Senior Creative Director Ryan White, and the first chance to get the watches on the wrist in the Fossil Signature Lounge. Fossil is taking a fresh swing at enthusiast watchmaking with Signature CS-1, a new collection built around thoughtful design, elevated materials, and Swiss craftsmanship. Launched at Windup Watch Fair NYC 2026, the collection brings Fossil’s distinctive design sensibility to a new premium watch platform. And we got to kick things off with a morning dedicated to the people who matter most: the watch enthusiasts who showed up ready to see what it was all about. A week before the fair, we shared a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Fossil Signature Collection, filmed at Fossil’s Dallas headquarters with Ryan. We also extended an invitation: come watch the film with us, here from Ryan directly, and get your hands on the watches before the rest of the fair got underway. The Screening Before Windup opened its doors on Saturday and Sunday, we gathered for the premiere of our short documentary, tracing the collection from its first spark of inspiration to the finished pieces. Seeing it on a big screen is one thing. Seeing it in a room full of people who care about how watches get made is something else entirely. The Q&A; Next, our Head of Partnerships, Kyle Snarr, sat down with Ryan for a conversation that picked up right wh...

Could Quartz Save The Swiss Watch Industry?

Introducing: The Sicura Hexa 400 Sea Green, A Vintage-Inspired Dive Watch With A Dial Like The Ocean
That subtitle sounds a bit rich, right? Still, there’s some unexpected truth in that statement. Under the leadership of the famous Ernest “Teddy” Schneider in the late 1960s and 1970s, Sicura thrived and introduced a series of watches featuring pin-lever movements and bold designs. Among them were dive watches with patented multi-bezel systems and dual-crown […] Visit Introducing: The Sicura Hexa 400 Sea Green, A Vintage-Inspired Dive Watch With A Dial Like The Ocean to read the full article.

The Pulsar “Adventurer” 7T62-X084: A Tool Watch Taken to the Next Level
I’ve never claimed to be much of an outdoorsman, but it never hurts to keep a few rugged and utilitarian watches in the watch box. Even a leisurely stroll in a local park can warrant the wear of a tool watch; it feels fitting to be prepped for whatever the outdoors may have in store. The Pulsar 7T62-X084 is a watch few have seen and even fewer have owned. I spent hours hunting down any information I could gather in preparation for this deep dive article, quickly realizing this model is in desperate need of a nickname––a canon event in the life of many Seiko watches. I’d like to coin the “Adventurer” moniker in hopes of making future discourse regarding this watch a bit easier to find in forums and on social media. For all the tool watches Seiko and Pulsar have offered over the years, I was shocked to find that no other model has ever borne that nickname. With its fresh new name picked out, let’s take a deep dive into the X084’s many functions and discover why it’s one of the most underrated Pulsar models the company has ever produced. The Adventurer’s History and Variants Because online information on the X084 is incredibly scarce, I’ll use expired auction listings, blogs, and other assorted photographs to build the most comprehensive history I can. Using Seiko/Pulsar’s serial-number coding methods, most, if not all, of the examples I’ve found were manufactured in 2005. For those unaware, the coding formula doesn’t provide enough information reg...

E.C. Andersson is Back with the Cpt, their Take on a Dress Watch (Sort Of)
Last month, the Swedish brand E.C. Andersson caught our attention with the release of the Timepod, a funky square watch with a unique detachable lug system. Zach Weiss and I were both pretty taken with it and even discussed at some length on the podcast. This is a brand that is appealing not just for their quality and design aesthetic, but their unique approach to manufacturing and watchmaking, making many components in-house in their own studio, and sometimes coming up with solutions to problems that don’t actually exist (that’s watchmaking in a nutshell in 2026). Their latest effort, the Cpt, is pitched as something a little more traditional than the Timepod or the Mytilus, the watch that initially made me take notice of the brand. The Cpt is described by E.C. Andersson as “Our take on a dress watch, sort of.” That last clause is doing some heavy lifting. This is a watch that straddles stylistic lines between nautical inspiration and midcentury dress watches but clearly retains E.C. Andersson’s core aesthetic, which at this point is pretty well defined by things like dial texture, and the shape of indices, which are more suggestive and abstract than traditional hour markers. The Cpt comes in a compact 36.5mm case that measures 8.5mm tall, not including the boxed sapphire crystal, another hallmark of the brand. The case is designed to be robust yet elegant, and has a full 100 meters of water resistance. In photos, it doesn’t present as a tool watch, and ha...

The Business of Watches Podcast: TanTan Wang And Griffin Bartsch On New York Watch Week And What It Says About The Market
This week on The Business of Watches, we regroup and recap New York Watch Week. From INDIES.NYC to the FHH Forum to WatchTime and Windup NYC, Griffin Bartsch and TanTan Wang hit the highs and lows of what is now considered the premier calendar week event in the U.S. watch world. The U.S. market's rapid rise to top dog among timepiece destinations is confirmed: Switzerland imported more than CHF 4.3 billion worth of watches in 2025, accounting for 17% of overall Swiss watch exports. It's an increase driven by a surge in enthusiasm and interest in the post-pandemic era. Image courtesy Windup Watch Fair NYC But is the growth sustainable, and is the industry catering enough to American tastes and needs? Is the U.S. market strength a fleeting diversion, or is it in it for the long haul? Hodinkee editors Griffin and TanTan join us on the podcast to weigh in on the products and activations conjured by some of the world's biggest watch brands in the largest market for luxury and premium timepieces. Who's getting it right and who's missing the boat? What should brands do to win the hearts and minds of U.S. watch consumers in 2026 and beyond? Image courtesy WatchTime The Autodromo Group C Turbo Sport. There's plenty of watch business and strategy to discuss, and we hope you enjoy the conversation. Please leave any thoughts or questions in the comments section, and we'll do our best to respond. Want to subscribe so you never miss an episode? This show is published to the original H...

Industry News - Audemars Piguet Launches The Watch Keepers, Its Online Platform for Certified Pre-Owned Watches
The concept of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) isn’t new to the watch industry, but it has gained quite some momentum in recent years, in particular when Rolex launched its own service, now known to be a significant revenue generator for the Geneva-based brand (USD 590 million in 2025, already more than that as of September 2026, according […]

Business News: Audemars Piguet Unveils 'The Watch Keepers' - A Digital Platform Offering Certified Pre-Owned Watches
Audemars Piguet, best known for its Royal Oak model, is starting its long-anticipated certified pre-owned watch service program, launching a digital platform called 'The Watch Keepers' that will bring together buyers and sellers of the Swiss brand's watches inspected and guaranteed by the company's in-house experts. Images courtesy Audemars Piguet Designed as a digital marketplace, the program will roll out in Switzerland and Europe starting today and will facilitate sales of pre-owned Audemars Piguet watches at least two years old. Approved sellers will securely ship watches to the brand, where Audemars Piguet will examine and certify them as genuine and authentic. The brand will then photograph the watches, document them with listing details, and list them for sale at a set price or via bidding on The Watch Keepers platform, offering them to potential approved buyers using the service. Audemars Piguet will hold and store the watches until they sell and will facilitate delivery to buyers, who will receive a two-year functioning service guarantee on timepieces purchased on the platform. However, the seller will remain the owner of the watches until they are sold and delivered to a new owner. The launch of the Audemars Piguet CPO program marks a significant expansion of the brand's sales channels, as it already sells most of its new watches through company-owned boutiques. It also further legitimizes the secondary, or pre-owned, watch market and follows Rolex's entry into...
