Rexhep Rexhepi moved from Kosovo to Geneva as a teenager and entered the Geneva watchmaking school. He apprenticed at Patek Philippe and at F.P. Journe, gaining hands-on movement-finishing experience at two of Geneva's defining manufactures. He founded Akrivia in 2012 with his brother Xhevdet, initially focused on complicated pieces (tourbillons, monopusher chronographs).
The RRCC (Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Contemporain) line launched in 2018 as a deliberately stripped-down time-only chronometer. The signature is the level of hand-finishing: each movement bridge has hand-applied internal angles, and the case shows hand-polished bevels typical of haute horlogerie. RRCC waiting lists run several years; secondary-market prices have multiplied issue prices. The 2023 RRCC II added a small seconds and refined the case proportions. Rexhepi has won multiple GPHG prizes including the 2018 Men's Watch prize for the original RRCC.
