VIDEO: All that glitters – the Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G;

Around this time of the year I’m prone to a bit of the old ‘best watch’ game – running through my favourite releases in a particular brand or category. And typically it’s a pretty clear-cut decision for me. Not so with Tudor’s 2017 collection. I’ve found myself going back and forth over two watches pretty … ContinuedThe post VIDEO: All that glitters – the Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G; appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

INTRODUCING: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel – a rugged new look and a hot date

Tudor has just lifted the lid on the Black Bay Chronograph, and already they’re showing us another Baselworld 2017 novelty, and surprisingly/unsurprisingly it’s another take on the Black Bay. But rather than offer novel materials or finishes, like last year’s Bronze and Dark version, Tudor has revisited the heart of the collection, and offered another … ContinuedThe post INTRODUCING: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel – a rugged new look and a hot date appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Tudor’s Black Bay Ceramic One sold for a ridiculous amount at Only Watch 2019

If history is anything to go by, we shouldn’t have been surprised at news coming out of Only Watch 2019 that Tudor’s entry into the charitable auction, the Black Bay Ceramic One, had sold for a staggering 350,000 CHF ($515,000 AUD). In fact, for Tudor’s third pièce unique entered into Only Watch to do anything … ContinuedThe post Tudor’s Black Bay Ceramic One sold for a ridiculous amount at Only Watch 2019 appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

EDITOR’S PICK: Tudor’s Black Bay Chrono – greater than the sum of its parts?

Editor’s note: The thing I love most about Tudor is their capacity to surprise. They get me every single time. I mean, every time a new watch is announced I know it’s probably going to be a Black Bay, but they still manage to defy expectations. And that’s exactly what they did last year, with … ContinuedThe post EDITOR’S PICK: Tudor’s Black Bay Chrono – greater than the sum of its parts? appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

IN-DEPTH: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G;

The story in a second:  Two-tone is back, baby! Steel and gold watches have been around for years. Hitting peak popularity around 30 years ago, they were the epitome of ’80s style, but, then again, so were pastel polos with double popped collars. However, while the mix of these two metals has been used by … ContinuedThe post IN-DEPTH: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G; appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

“Watches, Stories, and Gear” is a roundup of our favorite content, watch or otherwise, from around the internet. Here, we support other creators, explore interesting content that inspires us, and put a spotlight on causes we believe in. Oh, and any gear we happen to be digging on this week. We love gear. To completely look in the other direction. Zig when everyone else zags. Exploring this path usually leads you to something of an odd-ball that ends up in your possession. For Alex Earle, a fixture within the VW Group design team and founder of Earle Motors, his 1967 Jeep Commando is exactly that. Via Huckberry If Jeep’s Wrangler is like Tudor’s Black Bay 58, then think of the Jeep Commando as the equivalent to Tudor’s North Flag or P01. They’re weird, but in a very cool way. The Jeep Commando still retains some of the traditional straight body lines, but it combines a wider frame and a dune-buggy-like silhouette that might make you question if you’re looking at a Jeep to begin with. In Huckberry’s ongoing editorial series entitled “The Joy of Owning,” Earle’s 1967 Jeep Commando is the center-focus. Via Huckberry However in this latest edition, we...

The Journey To Diving In Tudor’s New Black Pelagos FXD

Earlier this year, in the middle of our Windup Watch Fair in Chicago, Benrus put together a dive trip in the cold waters of Lake Michigan in celebration of their Ultra-Deep dive watch. You can see my photo report from the morning expedition right here. While diving has always been on my periphery, a side effect of writing about scores of dive watches over the years, I had never truly confronted the idea of getting dive certified myself until the experience of seeing those divers, many of them friends, take their turns stepping off the boat and into the depths. So, not long after returning back to New York, I scheduled time to get my open water dive certification through NAUI instructors. The only decision left was which watch I’d use during the process.  I’ll confess, the final kick to get certified came upon learning of a dive trip that was being planned by Tudor, something off the coast of Florida in the Gulf, potentially around a new watch release (which of course ended up being the case). With that knowledge in mind, it felt appropriate to complete my training with a Tudor Pelagos FXD on one wrist, and the Apple Watch Ultra on the other. The idea of putting these things to use in such a manner was half the excitement, allowing me the opportunity to experience them as intended, and creating an additional layer of context within which I could assess them as tools. And not just the Tudor, but all of my divers.  Having access to more seasoned divers during this proce...
