Founded in 2010 by François Tolède and Luc Poupon, the Richard Mille-sponsored Les Voiles de St Barth is now established as one of most important regattas in the world. Earlier this year, the eighth edition of the event was held with close to 70 boats from 20 different countries on the starting line. Among those taking part were Peter Harrison – CEO of Richard Mille Europe, Middle East and Africa – and crew, aboard his TP52 yacht Sorcha. Revolution was there to cheer him on and to talk about the thrill of the race.

I imagine there’d be some decent perks that would go along with being a bud of The Weeknd. You’d probably get to meet Daft Punk. You probably wouldn’t get to meet Justin Bieber. And maybe he’d pick you up to go bowling in a sweet ride with a panther in his passenger seat. Pretty great perks. But … ContinuedThe post WATCHSPOTTING: New French Montana song is iced out Patek Philippe lovefest appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

I don’t want to sound like a jaded watch journalist because – let’s be honest – those guys are the worst. But having said that, there were not too many surprises at Baselworld 2017. I knew we’d be seeing Speedmasters from Omega, a Sea-Dweller from Rolex and some crazy-but-cool collabs from Hublot. I didn’t expect to be … ContinuedThe post HANDS-ON: Looking for a dressy daily wearer that’s a little left field? Try the Chopard L.U.C XP appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

The Drive de Cartier that stole the hearts of many at SIHH 2017.
Alain de Cadenet is not a man who supports the idea of change for the sake of it. In fact, his philosophy for life is that if you find something good – really, really good – you should stick with it.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Cartier’s only men’s release of 2016 was the Drive de Cartier. But in addition to this handsome new collection Cartier decided to revive one of the dark horses of their collection – the Santos 100 Carbon. Until 2012, if the regular metal versions of the Santos weren’t your thing, … ContinuedThe post INTRODUCING: The dark elegance of the Cartier Santos 100 Carbon appeared first on Time+Tide Watches.

Warning: This watch review with a difference may contain traces of mancrush. So let’s address the chiselled jaw on the elephant in the room. We envy the hero of this shoot, Mr Chris Edwards, more than just a little bit. Let us count the ways. The ‘Calibre de Cartier’ created for men in 2010, was a real turn in the collection. Were all models fairly elegant or uni sex, the ‘Calibre de Cartier’ jumped right in the collection with its rough lines, large 42 mm case, fluorescent hands and masculine look. The watch was not created for the typical Cartier […]

The universe sometimes works in mysterious ways. With the passing of Robin Williams, the world has lost one of its greatest comedians. His daughter Zelda quoted Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince” to commemorate him, and at the same time IWC is commemorating Antoine de Saint-Exupéry himself with a limited edition dedicated to his last […]

One of the most extraordinairy timepieces that Cartier presented this year was the Rotonde de Cartier, Earth and Moon and I have not even written a word about it. Worn & Wound
From the imposing astronomical clocks of Tudor England to the exquisite pendant watches of Victorian Britain, timekeeping has long been a symbol of power, prestige, and technological marvel within Europe’s royal courts. This new series explores the fascinating evolution of clocks and watches crafted specifically for royalty, tracing how these intricate masterpieces reflected the tastes, ambitions, and innovations of monarchs. Through the lens of craftsmanship, artistry, and historical significance, we reveal how these royal timepieces marked the passage of dynasties and empires. Cosimo I de’ Medici (1519–1574), the first Grand Duke of Tuscany, is remembered as a masterful statesman who unified Florence’s power. Yet behind his political authority lay a profound curiosity for the sciences, especially the study of the heavens and the measurement of time. The Medici family rose to power in Florence primarily through their wealth and strategic use of the Medici Bank, which became the largest and most powerful bank in Europe during the 15th century. They leveraged this financial power to influence Florentine politics, eventually establishing themselves as the de facto rulers of the city, although they maintained the appearance of a republic. They used their wealth and influence to transform Florence into a leading capital of trading and a place for the greatest creators to work and develop incredible scientific instruments, such as the clock in the Cathedral of Santa...
