The Carpathia watch I received was brushed gold, which, unlike polished gold, makes the watch look like a vintage piece you found in a drawer after many years. It’s actually a neat effect.

Tudor is one of those brands that piques the interest of a wide spectrum of watch enthusiasts. No matter what our opinions are of the brand, quality, and price point, Tudor captures our attention.

As we make our way through Baselworld 2019's press day, it's already evident that, from a distance, this show feels quite different from what we've encountered in the past. Almost immediately, the Swatch Group's absence has been realized and from the TBWS side of things, this almost significantly cuts down on the number of watches we'd usually talk about. But, we thought it would be fun to gather our thoughts so far and update this post throughout the week as we get our hands on the growing pile of press materials. So here are some watches that have stopped up in our tracks-for better or worse.

For Baselworld 2019, the familiar Oris Aquis has been updated with a GMT complication, making it what could very well be, the coolest and most vacation-ready version so far. Let's take a quick look at this "not-so-piloty" GMT option.

2019 is already feeling like the end times - the Sword of Damocles feels primed to plummet down upon us at any moment... perfect time to talk watches! This week Mike and Kaz wanted to share their perspective on how to build a watch collection in 2019 the TBWS way.

I was sent two case versions of the Legera Chrono: the standard Legera and the Bullhead configuration. I chose to focus on the Bullhead for this review because I figured you fine folks would be more interested in information on this version.

This week the guys are revisiting the talk on Women's watches and how things have changed (or not changed) since the last episode. We talk Tudor ads, microbrands, and the general overall state of how (and why) certain watches are marketed to women. Plus, the guys share which overtly marketed "Women's watches" they'd totally rock on wrist.

The Dan Henry 1972 Alarm Chrono case is distinctly similar to the Orfina 7176s. The stand-out feature is the lugs (or lack thereof). The lug-to-lug on the case is only 45.5mm. This makes the watch wear smaller than the 41mm diameter would suggest.

Being only 10mm thick, the watch fits perfectly under any shirt or jacket and the curved (and drilled) lugs let the watch hug your wrist like it was made for it. The screw down case back continues the bead-blasted theme and contains segments that give you all the info on the watch: sapphire crystal, 316L, 100m water resistance and so on and so forth.

This week Mike and Kaz are talking about limited edition watches - more specifically, are they actually doing us any good? We see the rush and trample of the horological masses as soon as some sort of LE piece gets released. But are the results actually worth it?

On first inspection I found the minimally modern approach of the case and bezel incredibly refreshing while the intricate more vintage approach of the dial kept Dryden Watch Co. Chrono Diver visually interesting. Here's a watch that isn't trying to re-invent the wheel by creating a watch that's totally kooky or outrageous.

This week we're looking towards the future - and you guys are a big part of that! Mike and Kaz have a candid discussion about how TBWS will continue to grow but also differentiate itself from everyone else out there covering the same events (in the same way).

I immediately sized the new Strapcode Jubilee and I was blown away - this Jubilee bracelet screams quality. Even the spring bars are nice. The fitted end links, folding clasp, and links are all machined out of solid metal.

This week Farer announced the release of their Ainsdale and Pendine Split-Second Flyback Quartz Chronograph watches. Now, "split-second" and "flyback" aren't usually terms you'll see here on TBWS but because these are quartz watches, the value proposition is actually quite compelling.

It's President's Day here in the US.... and we aren't really sure what the hell that means. But it's the perfect opportunity to talk about watches worn by US Presidents! This week we discuss some horological wrist highlights from the Oval Office while also sharing interesting tidbits and insights you may not have known about Presidential watches.

While the Phoibos range comprises a number of interesting watches with varying degrees of originality (but all with excellent design and build-quality), it's the Phoibos Wave Master that best embodies the brand’s inspiration.

On Bill's wrist, we caught a glance of a watch that seems to be making the rounds with one of our favorite billionaires - the Casio Duro Marlin MDV106-1A.

This week we return to our bread and butter - the Affordable Vintage Watch series! This week's episode is Part 7 of the installment and it's all freestyle. Mike and Kaz check out eBay in real time on air and explore fun affordable vintage pieces that you may never have considered. Check out this week's show and let us know what you think!

The Timex Mid Century piece was revealed during NYFW (New York Fashion Week) and represents another interesting chapter in the partnership between Todd Snyder and Timex.

The guys are returning to talking about Watch Photography! It's been a long time since the topic has come up on air and needless to say the guys have a lot more to say on the subject. From gear, the photography rat race, and the general weirdness of choosing to focus on only photographing watches, this week's show is a good one.

This week we're returning to one of our beloved reoccurring segments: Watch Brands We Know Nothing About! This week the guys are shedding light and talking shop on Damasko - a German watch manufacturer that may not have the exposure that Sinn and Nomos has, but the brand is doing some incredible things (and more people need to take notice!).

So what could make such a devoted Apple Watch user be so drawn to the Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Chronograph? I had to find out. He was kind enough to let me spend some time with that watch for this review and needless to say it was an eye-opening experience.

The Yema Yachtingraf line features quartz models starting at $279 and tops out with a limited edition automatic that can be pre-ordered for nearly ten-times that amount. I opted for the still-relatively-expensive Yachtingraf Heritage automatic (approx. $2,250 USD) with the sapphire crystal.
