Collinsville Watch Co. has been a friend of the Two Broke Watch Snobs podcast ever since the early days. Even back then Mike and I recognized the type of good work that Frank (the owner and operator of CW) was doing - making quality watches with great specs and design motifs that were significant and special.

The first time that I was introduced to a Swatch Sistem51 was in a marketing email from Hodinkee announcing their collaboration with Swatch. The Swatch Sistem51 cost $150, which piqued my interest immediately. It was only a fraction of the cost of anything else that Hodinkee offered (besides a magazine).

During that whole process a question was rolling around in my brain: "Do I like this watch?" The choice lingered and swayed as I quietly drove myself insane over the course of a few months.

But due diligence is always appropriate and I check out the brand's Instagram page to see what the watch looks like. After about 2 minutes of having my nose buried in my phone I slowly crane my head up towards Mike and say "Dude, we need to see this watch."

Why this particular Hamilton Chrono-matic II isn’t more popular among enthusiasts is beyond me. Near as I can figure it, it's because it straddles that shadowed area of vintage watches that isn’t quite old enough to be “real vintage;” yet it hit the markets about a decade too soon for it to get the praise provided by the horology journalism of today.
